Role Overview & Purpose
The Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner supports the remote delivery of evidence-based, equitable stop smoking services across various localities to reduce health inequalities. Key Responsibilities
- Client Support & Interventions: Deliver high-quality one-to-one, group, drop-in, telephone, and online stop smoking interventions using motivational interviewing, behavior change techniques, and the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme.
- Relapse Prevention & Education: Lead peer support sessions to prevent relapse and provide education on smoking cessation and behavioral change.
- Community & Partner Collaboration: Work with healthcare professionals and community partners to embed smoking cessation into routine care, reduce health inequalities, and deliver cost-effective services across community settings.
- Administration & Operations: Maintain accurate client records per ABL Health policies, analyze local health data to guide service delivery, cover clinics as needed, and balance competing priorities.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Background as a Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner within the community (or willing to undergo provided training) and experience with evolving services.
- Communication & Relationships: Strong, adaptable communication skills across diverse audiences (clients, staff, and volunteers), with the ability to build trust and foster cooperation among stakeholders.
- Mindset & Work Ethic: Proactive and positive outlook to motivate others, quality-driven with high standards, open to new perspectives, and capable of handling a busy environment.
