Role Overview & Purpose

This leadership position oversees the Specialist Stop Smoking Outreach Service in Kent, delivered by ABL Health and commissioned by Kent County Council. The role leads a team providing targeted outreach and bespoke tobacco dependency support to high-prevalence priority cohorts (Mental Health, Social Housing, Children and Young People, Workplaces, and A&E/CoSTED departments) to drive sustainable behavior change.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Supervision & Governance: Provide day-to-day management, performance tracking, and clinical/professional guidance to a team of Stop Smoking Specialist Advisors and an Administrator. Conduct audits, observations, and reflective practice to ensure high standards.
  • Operational Coordination & Performance: Lead service planning, implementation, and KPI monitoring via internal review boards. Work with the data team to analyze outcomes and produce performance reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships: Build strong referral pathways across community, primary care, and secondary care settings. Train professionals in Very Brief Advice (VBA), represent the service at events, and drive community outreach campaigns.

Key Requirements
  • Leadership & Project Management: Experienced leader in community health services with strong skills in project management, scheduling, problem-solving, and managing evolving services in complex health systems.
  • Communication & Relationships: Adaptable communicator capable of building trust, fostering cooperation, and engaging clients, staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
  • Mindset & Quality: Strategic thinker, results-oriented, quality-driven, and open to new ideas and perspectives.
